War Photography
1. During the Civil War tintypes were
the type of photography that was used the
most.
2. Among the most striking pictures are
those depicting scenes of the Crimean War,
one of the earliest military engagements
to be recorded by photography.
3. World War 1 gave impetus to improvements
in photography, especially for applications
such as photoreconnaissance and mapping
from aerial photographs.
4. World War 2 and subsequent conflicts
again catalysed developments in photographic
technology, and emphasized the propaganda
value of photography.
5. Photographic innovation was never more
evident in the photography done during the
Vietnam War where photojournalists had convenience
in the field as never before.
